Frequently Asked Questions

Operation Rolling Thunder
    1. What is Operation Rolling Thunder (ORT)?
      • It is a proven strategy that unites kingdom minded Christian leaders from all seven spheres of society and churches while establishing 24/7 prayer over a city, county, or state.
      • It harnesses the momentum from major prayer events to launch 24/7 in a city in a simple yet powerful manner based upon Ephesians 4:16.  Local churches cooperating together have accomplished this within a month.

      • No

    1. How did Operation Rolling Thunder get its name?
      • God is the one who named this strategy and confirmed it with a sign. Click here for an article.  For the complete story behind the name click here to get the book "Operation Rolling Thunder." The story begins on page 109.

    1. Some people don't like the name and think it will offend people.  Can I change the name?
      • NO - Galatians 1:10 and John 5:44
      • Since 2005 God has given signs and wonders to mark the word and to encourage the congregations who have embarked upon the strategy He has given.  Mark 16:20 "....the Lord working with them confirming the word through accompanying signs. Amen."

    1. Is it true that signs and wonders such solar storms on the sun, thunderstorms, record rainfall, circum-horizon arcs, thundersnow, rainbows, decreasing crime, economic prosperity, unprecedented unity, increasing salvations, water baptisms, healings, etc.... have marked ORT every year?
      • Yes.  Click here to get the book "Operation Rolling Thunder."  It is the best source or click here for historical excerpts from each year.
      • We do not go around looking for signs and wonders, however, signs and wonders have followed the message and the corporate prayer every year.

    1. Is it true that the ORT strategy is being used to unite churches from many denominations?
      • Yes.  In 2009 we saw ORT go to 24 nations and found that the strategy was mobilizing and connecting the body of Christ in cities and regions.  From Catholic to Charismatic, from Presbyterian to Pentecostal, and from Non-denominational to Nazarene we have found this strategy unites churches that are passionate about transforming their cities through the presentation of the gospel of the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    1. Are there resources to help me impart the vision, train and mobilize my church or city?

    1. Can I change the ORT brochure to add my local contact information?
      • Yes.  If you get the ORT Kick Off Kit you will have a PDF copy of the brochure as well as a Microsoft Publisher Files as well.   You are welcome to make as many copies of the brochure as you would like as long as you do not edit the content of the strategy and respect the copyright. You have permission to add your local contact and event information on the back center panel.

    1. What is a Transformation Task Force?
      • This Task Force is based on Proverbs 24:5-6 which teaches us that there is wisdom in a multitude of council.  Kingdom minded leaders from all 7 spheres of society are sought out who are passionate about transforming their area of society through the presentation of the gospel of the kingdom.  It is like gathering the elders at the gates of the city.  They play a key role in helping identify prayer and action strategies to be launched during ORT.  Click here for more.

    1. What is a CONECTer?
      • A CONECTer is like a prayer coordinator only they are not only coordinating prayer but also helping connect the various parts of the body of Christ together.  CONECTers can serve in a church, city, county, province, territory, state or nation.  Click here for more.

    1. What are the seven spheres of society?
      • Church, business, government, media, education, healthcare and the family.  Click here for more.

    1. Can you give me a big picture overview of how Operation Rolling Thunder and CONECT work together.
      • ORT is divided into two phases.
      • In Phase I ORT is the event that connects the National Day of Prayer with the Global Day of Prayer with 24/7 prayer.  One church takes one day in a city.  Working together 24/7 prayer can be accomplished quickly in a specific territory such as a city.  This also increases the size of NDP and GDOP events. Simultaneously ORT initiates the formation of a Transformation Task Force from the 7 spheres of society. These 7 councils are made up of strategic leaders who help provide wisdom, direction and strategy used to develop the prayer targets for NDP, GDOP and ORT.
      • In Phase II, CONECT (Christian Outreach Network Establishing City-wide Teamwork) is the strategic communication plan provided to CONECTers to train and equip them to sustain 24/7 and to connect the prayer with these strategic councils that were formed in Phase I.
      • Think of it this way, ORT initiates while CONECT sustains.

    1. What is the relationship between the local church and ORT/CONECT?
      • ORT is a strategic event that provides an opportunity for local churches in a city to connect with the larger body of Christ who are passionate about the presence of God (24/7 prayer) and about transforming their community, state and nation.  ORT helps initiate corporate relationships.
      • CONECT is a strategic communication plan that empowers local churches, cities and regions to stay connected after ORT is over.  Each local church is unique and different but they are connected to each other through a common purpose; to transform their community through the gospel of the kingdom beginning with 24/7 prayer.

    1. How does ORT and CONECT help the local church?
      • The cooperation and prayer that ORT and CONECT enable has resulted in measurable results such as:
        • Increased salvations, water baptisms and healings
        • Interactions with mayors and government officials as crime is remarkably affected
        • Mobilizes your people to reach out into business, government, media, education, healthcare and family spheres
        • Positive economic impact on communities
        • For more specific examples order the book "Operation Rolling Thunder"
      • Helps kingdom minded leaders and churches meet other kingdom minded leaders and churches passionate about transforming the same territory.
      • Provides a reason to work together with the body of Christ at large.

    1. How does ORT/CONECT help National Day of Prayer and Global Day of Prayer events?
      • ORT connects these two major prayer events together with 24/7 prayer.
      • The first year Washington state mobilized 24/7/365 over the state through ORT we saw:
        • NDP events increased by 300%
        • GDOP events increased by 600%

16. Do I have to wait until May 2010 to launch the strategy found in ORT and CONECT?
    • No.  Once the biblical principles and strategies are understood you can utilize the strategy at any time to mobilize and connect the body of Christ in your city. For example:

      • 23 churches in Lahore Pakistan launched ORT and used it to establish a city prayer center. (Aug. 09)
      • The University of Florida used ORT to do a week of 24/7 leading up to a special night of worship on campus. (Nov. 09)
      • October 2009 - one of our CONECTers in Kenya mobilizes another church in the Monchengo District.

17.  Can the ORT strategy help a church, ministry or network build and expand its network?
    • Yes!
    • Whenever leaders utilize this strategy to mobilize their church or network, it gives them a common purpose to work together on.  Applying the biblical principles of war that ORT empowers them to apply causes them to get out into the community and territory to discover the adversaries plan and the allies God has placed in the same territory.  In this process many meet other kingdom minded leaders, churches and ministries who desire to be connected and work together.  These corporate relationships are established through ORT and then sustained through CONECT.  Through this process many networks have been grown and built.   Note: this FAQ was posted Nov. 19, 2009 and on the same morning, as if on cue, I received a report from Pastor Thomas Okinyi stating that he just added another city and 11 more churches to their network in Kenya.
18.  Why is it hard for some pastors and ministers to understand what ORT and CONECT is and can do for them?
    • Most pastors experience is in a local church.  Hence their experience and view is from the local church perspective.  God used Tim's experience on the command ship in Desert Storm and his training through the Naval War College to teach him about large scale mobilization and coordination of strategic forces both air, land and sea.  Through those experiences God taught Tim about the 8 major principles of spiritual war that is being used to connect and mobilize the body of Christ through prayer and strategic outreach in order to transform their communities.  The strategic view has a much broader perspective than that of a local church and includes connecting leaders from all seven spheres of society as well as uniting diverse yet complimentary parts of the body of Christ in order to maximize their ability to present the gospel of the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in power.  God has uniquely prepared and anointed Tim for this assignment.  He tends to have a much larger and longer term perspective than most.
